To both conceptualise the approach to the project and establish a foundation upon which our research would be based, we surveyed existing literature on categorising, detecting, and mitigating gender bias in LLMs in English, non-English and Indian languages. This review fleshes out insights from flagship studies on these topics, providing a foundational understanding of existing concepts, frameworks, and relevant evidence.
