This document provides strategic guidance for enhancing gender equity in LLM projects. Divided into two sections, Section A offers actionable recommendations for developers - aimed at fostering the development and deployment of sustainable and inclusive LLM applications. These are based on the ‘Principles for Digital Development’, a set of foundational guidelines designed to serve as a compass for those working towards sustainable and inclusive development in today’s complex digital landscape.
Section B addresses broader, system-level recommendations for institutional actors in India’s LLM ecosystem. Many of these approaches proposed in this document remain in an experimental phase and should be viewed as indicative best practices rather than a guaranteed path to achieving gender equity in LLMs. These recommendations are intended as guidance for embedding gender intentionality in this evolving field, rather than as a one-size-fits-all solution.
