How are algorithmic decision-making systems reconfiguring political, social and economic dynamics? What are the normative frameworks, institutional arrangements, and social capacities needed to address the harms posed by AI systems?
How might we re-imagine platform architectures so that they serve the interests of people and communities, rather than capital? How do we address unfair value extraction and exploitation and prioritise individual rights and healthy markets?
How are emerging digital technologies transforming the meaning and practices of work in the global south? How do we ensure a more equitable distribution of value in emerging digital economies, in support of worker agency, rights, and wellbeing?
What frameworks and capacities are needed to protect individual and community rights in emerging digital societies? How do we align top-down agendas for digital rights with the lived experiences of diverse communities in the global south?
